Square Footage Calculator

For a rectangle, multiply the length by the width (length × width). For example, a room that is 12 feet long and 10 feet wide has 120 square feet. For triangles, use ½ × base × height. For circles, use π × radius².

Split the irregular room into simple shapes — rectangles, triangles, or partial circles — measure each piece separately, calculate each area, and add them all together. This works for L-shaped rooms, rooms with alcoves, or any other non-rectangular space.

There are 9 square feet in one square yard. Since 1 yard equals 3 feet, a square yard is 3 feet × 3 feet = 9 square feet. To convert square feet to square yards, divide by 9.
