How do I calculate a test grade?
Divide the number of questions you got right by the total number of questions, then multiply by 100 to get a percentage. For example, 18 correct out of 20 is 18 ÷ 20 × 100 = 90%.
What letter grade is my percentage?
On the common US scale: 90–100% is an A, 80–89% a B, 70–79% a C, 60–69% a D, and below 60% an F. Many schools add pluses and minuses; this calculator shows the standard letter for your percentage.
How many can I get wrong and still get an A?
Multiply the total by 0.10 to find how many you can miss and still score 90%. On a 50-question test you can miss 5 and stay at exactly 90% (an A). The calculator shows the score for each number wrong in its grading table.
What is points-off grading?
Points-off grading starts at the total possible points and subtracts the points you lost. If a test is worth 50 points and you lost 7, your score is 43/50 = 86%. Switch the calculator to points-off mode to grade this way.
How do I calculate a grade with partial credit?
Use the points-off mode and enter the total points lost, including partial deductions. The percentage is (total − points lost) ÷ total × 100, so half-point deductions are handled just like whole ones.
