Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate a percent-off discount?

Multiply the original price by (1 βˆ’ discount% Γ· 100). For example, 25% off $80 is $80 Γ— 0.75 = $60.00. The amount you save is simply the original price minus the sale price.

How do stacked discounts work?

When two discounts are stacked, the second discount is applied to the already-reduced price β€” not to the original. So 25% off followed by 10% off means you pay 75% Γ— 90% = 67.5% of the original price, which is a 32.5% effective discount, not 35%. Retailers use stacked discounts during clearance sales or with coupon codes.

How much will I save?

Your total savings equal the original price minus the final sale price (before tax). The effective discount percentage is your savings divided by the original price, multiplied by 100. Sales tax is applied after all discounts and increases the amount you pay at the register, but it does not affect the savings calculation.
